Another cracker mag, with guru photographer Damian Breach on the cover ripping up sweet Mt Buller trails.
We test five carbon bikes including the three-way shootout between a Cannondale Scalpel, Felt Edict and Merida Ninety-Nine. A Whyte 146 all-mountain rig and Orbea Occam trail shredder is also on trial.
A Fox Talas 150 RLC and Rockshox Revelation XX Dual Air fork battle out for suspension supremacy.
A trip to the inaugural Forrest Festival, Copperhead at Mt Buller, and a wrap up of the 2011 Real Insurance Marathon Series make for a great read.
Plus we report from the first cross country and downhill National Series for 2012 from Thredbo and WA's Goat Farm.
In the fitness section Mark Fenner helps you bounce back from injury and in tech we bleed Avid brakes the way SRAM recommend.
It's packed.
Enjoy the read everybody!
March isn't that far away. Might be time to think up excuses to head to Buller for Bike Buller or the new shuttle services that start in Feb.
Anyway the boys at AMB put together this vid of Copperhead, the new "Flowdown?" trail.

Cold weather and the threat of rain have done nothing to dampen spirits for the first DH national of the 2011/12 calendar. Jared Graves is fastest closely followed by junior world champ Troy Brosnan. Tracey Hannah cleared the women's field by nearly 40 seconds! Should be a great final tomorrow.

The 3rd Round of the Victorian Downhill Series was hosted by Team Mount Beauty on the more challenging Nationals Track. This track had not been raced since Sam Hill's wheels graced the track in '08/'09 but Team Mt Beauty had been working hard to get it race ready and they were able to present one of the best tracks in Victoria for the 331 rides who attended the event. With perfect weather and with the local community supporting the event the atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation as rider after rider battled down the technical course to achieve their fastest time. Several interstate 'raiders' made the long adventure to battle it out with the fastest Victorians and with the local Panozzo brothers and their new bikes, the racing was always going to be spectacular.
The track was full of different features to challenge the riders the entire way down the 3:00 min track. Lots of rocks, roots and dust were to be had on a track that required a huge amount of bike handling skill and the right mix of aggressiveness and concentration. At least 100 spectators made their way to the infamous rock chute to cheer on the riders to view some spectacular crashes and incredible bike control skills. With the track bunted wide the entire way, riders had many line sections to choose from and there was quite a discussion over the weekend between the different riders as to what lines were fastest. A tight battle has emerged for the KONA Elite overall with NSW rider Tim Eaton and SA rider Connor “Fear Factory” Fearon fighting it out for the top spot. Will a Victorian be able to challenge them this season?
Full credit goes out to Team Mt Beauty and the VDHS Committee for organising and running yet another faultless event. With a few weeks off for the Christmas break I’m sure all the riders will be keen to head up to Mt Buller for the next event on the 14th and 15th of January. See you all there!
