2009 DH Team Rosters Spectacular!
(26 comments) (link) Friday, 31-October-2008  04:21 AM - by Ryan
Silly season is upon us and teams are going public with their 2009 lineups. Rumour mill e-speculation can now be put to bed for 6 months and we can resume normal operations!

No chance I'm spamming up the frontpage with 4 press releases, so let's just make it simple.

Trek / 23 Degrees - Justin Leov (NZ) and Andrew Neethling (RSA)
Yeti / Fox Shox - Jared Graves (AUS), Sam Blenkinsop (NZ) and Aaron Gwin (USA)
GT - Marc Beaumont (UK), Kevin Aiello (USA), Roger Rinderknecht (SWI), Luke Madill (AUS)
Mongoose - Eric Carter (USA), Mick Hannah (AUS)

So, news from the Australian perspective;

- Jared Graves back on Yeti and focussing on MTB for 2009.
- Luke Madill picks up a fulltime MTB ride on GT
- Mick Hannah back on the scene on a Mongoose

Expect other teams to go public with their signings in the very near future.

King Of Dirt Results

The King of Dirt race was run over the weekend here in South East Queensland. The Illinbah and Twin Peaks venues gave riders a great mix of tracks and by all accounts it was an awesome weekend. Kovarik and Graves turned up after their year of World Cup and Olympic races and it was no suprise to see both at the top of the podium. Josh Button even made the trip up from Coffs Harbour for the race.

1 Kovarik Chris 6:22.906 CRC Intense
2 Graves Jared 6:35.488 Yeti Cycles
3 Murrell Darcy 6:45.565 Tomac
4 Klein Lindsay 6:47.435 Santa Cruz/ForTheRiders.com
5 Button Joshua 6:55.841 Mongoose/Sram

Full results and a brief report can be found on the Two Wheel Promotions website.

(10 comments) (link) Friday, 10-October-2008  8:01 PM - by Squidly Didly
Issue 14 has landed and it's rammed with yet another burst of Aussie MTB goodness. Headlining this issue is our sick Stromlo World Cup story. We also check out the Rhythm team, CrankWorx '09, this years World Champs, the first installment of our new cartoon strip 'Shuttle & Scabs', regular columns from Glen Jacob's, Niki Gudex, Random Shite and Grant Allan. Add into the mix all the latest MTB news including '09 bikes and new release prody, Mitch Delfs miPOD, the low down on Ben Cory's new Commencal DH rig and a trials roadtrip down to Jindy. We also go inside Sombrio HQ with an Aussie that helps run the show, plus bike tests from Chumba, Norco and Eastern. There's even a complete upcoming race calendar to stick on your wall, and to finish things off we've got the current DH World Champion Gee Atherton to sign us out.

As a rad little bonus we've also got a digital 'teaser' of the new issue which you can check out here.

BMC Mountains To Beach

The BMC Mountains To Beach is a 5 day stage race that travels from the roof of Australia to the surf of the South Coast of NSW from 1-6 March 2009. Involving many unique elements such as a specifically designed cross-country descent from the top of the Kosciusko Express chairlift in Thredbo, a trip on the Ski Tube train from Bullocks Flat to Perisher, some new MTB trails never before raced, and finishing up with some stunning coastal riding, it will be an experience to savour.

Volunteers needed desperately for the Scott 24hr!
(23 comments) (link) Wednesday, 1-October-2008  12:44 AM - by demo man
A serious lack of volunteers for the 2008 Scott Australian 24 Hour MTB Champs, on the weekend of October 11/12th, is causing concern amongst organisers.

Please CLICK HERE to read about how kick-arse being a volunteer at the Scott is - there are great prizes (like a 40" Samsung LCD TV) and you only need to volunteer for 3-4 hours if you want.

Vollies are needed on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday - so if you have any free time at all please VOLUNTEER.

Cheers.
