Live coverage is on quite early tomorrow morning. I've had to revise the start times twice on our live webpage as freecaster themselves have been a little mixed up, so please take note that the current start is 3:50am AEST for the downhill and 9am AEST for the 4x. Now as per usual the downhill will kick off with the women and finish with the fastest men, so don't expect the fastest guys to come down the hill till around 5:00-5:30am (don't quote me though). So if you're a lazy bum then that might be the time to set your alarm for.
Check out our Mont St Anne Live coverage page for web streams and links. |

Multiple Aussie Champ and Current Champion failed at the final chance to overturn his omission from the Olympic team. Australia has only one spot and Chris Jongewaard was the shoe in with longtime rival and team mate (and friend) relocating to the States. But one night early last year turned everything on it's head celebrating with fellow cyclists it's ALLEGED that Chris Jongewaard was driving a car that hit his training partner, who was on his bike and who was partying with him. To make it worse it's alleged that Chris failed to stop and the matter still hasn't been resolved in the courts.
Chris on the verge of turning pro-road with a US based team was then omitted. Chris thrilled the crowds in the Commonwealth games in Melbourne almost pulling off a win (leading all race until final lap).
If you want to hear an interview we did with Chris, check the forum and download the latest podcast:

Meanwhile the AOC has confirmed Daniel McConnell will compete and it's a bitter twist of fate with Chris being selected for the last Olympics but the decision being overturned in the courts and instead Josh Flemming was sent.

 | Farkin.Net World Cup 'Superfan' Competition! (49 comments) (link) Tuesday, 22-July-2008 10:02 PM - by S. | |

Win a copy of the new MTB film 'TIA' and a Farkin t-shirt for being the 'superfan' of the Canberra World Cup round!
As you're all aware on August 30-31 2008 Canberra will be hosting a round of the UCI MTB World Cup, the first time in a very long time such an event has been in Australia.
We think it should be a particularly special event, with an electric atmosphere. So, to motivate you all to get off your backsides and make some noise, we're putting up a copy of Sam Davies' highly anticipated film 'TIA' (which will be released that weekend) and a highly coveted Farkin.Net t-shirt for whoever our judge thinks is the most enthusiastic spectator for the DH. That means the best dressed, most energetic, and most of all, LOUDEST spectator on the hill!
We're looking for creativity here, as well as effectiveness. Bonus points if you're hyping up the crowd around you.
The prize will be given on the spot on Sunday afternoon during the DH finals, with a photo taken of the winner and posted on Farkin soon after.
Show us what you've got! |
