Mountain bike riders set to blaze a trail through national parks
(8 comments) (link) Wednesday, 15-September-2010  10:01 AM - by Scott
Rob from Northern Beaches MTB sent this interesting news through.

SYDNEY'S mountain bikers have always been hampered by one thing - a conspicuous lack of proper mountain trails.

Instead they have independently, usually illegally, carved their own tracks through national parks around the city fringes.

This could be about to change, with the state government to release a discussion paper today on ways of balancing the needs of the state's 30,000 dedicated mountain bike riders with those of people who go to national parks for the trees and wildlife, peace and quiet.

World Champs 2010: Mont Sainte Anne 4x Results
(1 comments) (link) Sunday, 5-September-2010  08:32 AM - by Scott
Quite an exciting 4x race yesterday. From the start defending champ Jared Graves suffered from his flat in qualifying to get the last lane pick in each of the 4 rounds. Despite the lane choice he managed to make it through to the final and even led up until the 2nd last corner, but could not fend off a hard charging Tomas Slavik around the faster outside line.

Caroline Buchanon was in a class of her own, defending her title in a convincing fashion showing that she will be the one to beat in the coming years.

Also of note was Luana Maria of Brazil nearly making it to the women's final on a full travel downhill bike! No doubt the same bike she will race in the downhill on Sunday.

Men

1 SLAVIK Tomas
2 GRAVES Jared
3 PROKOP Michal
4 RINDERKNECHT Roger
5 WICHMAN Joost
6 FISCHBACH Johannes
